AHS Finale Predictions
(Sorry! I tried making a cut and it’s not working! Spoilers!)
After rewatching the entire season (I have a life x1000), here are my predictions for tonight’s episode.
- Constance will commit suicide. E! Online said there will be a “shocking death”… The Eclipse article makes it seem like it’ll be Ben, but that would be the LEAST shocking death possible. Here’s why I think it could be Constance: The one thing Constance loves more than beauty is her family. Let’s not forget that the cops still want to pin her husband’s murder on her. Also, I have a feeling this episode will include attempts to get rid of the house’s ghosts once and for all - which would include Tate and Beau. Suicide would (a) allow Constance to stay with her sons and (b) provide an amazing scene for Jessica Lange. However, I think it’s unlikely that this will happen as Constance plays an important role as one of the living spokesperson (of sorts) for the house.
- Tate is possessed by the Infantata. I’ve never thought of Tate as evil; I’ve always thought of him as tragic. So I don’t think his character can have a happy ending (as heartbreaking as that is). Tate never seems to have a complete memory of his crimes and always seems genuinely disturbed when he hears about them. In a TV Guide interview, Evan Peters says that Tate asks the house’s spirits for help with things (like beating up Violet’s bully). He continues to say: “Yes, the Infantata takes on different forms. We’ve seen two of them. That’s all I can say.” I know this isn’t solid proof of anything since the actors don’t know the storyline ahead of time, but I think somehow Tate and the Infantata might have become connected when he died because he’s always wished that Nora was his mother. There’s other foreshadowing, too: The bully says the devil is beautiful; the basement scene flashes between the Infantata and Tate pretty suggestively. I think getting rid of the Infantata will mean getting rid of Tate and it won’t be a happy scene.
- Alternatively, someone kills a baby. This would qualify as a “shocking death,” too, just because it’s a baby. It could also axe both the previous theories. Maybe Tate’s baby in the newest form of the Infantata. It would be stupid to kill it in the house, so maybe Ben has to take it off-property. Or maybe Constance realizes the danger it poses and does it herself (I like the idea of giving Jessica Lange 4358967459876 dramatic scenes). Alternatively alternatively, maybe the Infantata baby DOES get killed in the house, and getting rid of it is a major plot point of the second season (but that’d be weird).
- Ben leaves. For some reason, I view Ben as the show’s main antagonist (I know he’s not, but anyone who thinks it’s Constance or Tate - like, intrinsically Tate, not Tate being possessed by something - is wrong, too). Something’s not right about Ben. Maybe it’s his beady eyes or his dormant rage, but I don’t trust him even when he turns down Moira and tells Tate about his family at the park. He constantly lies to Vivien when telling truth is always an option, and basically seems insane. The house clearly has a strong hold on him. I think that after his conversations with Constance and Vivien, he will finally leave the house with the baby. (I mean, Vivien’s sister is expecting someone? Right? Like, won’t she be worried?) But because of the house’s hold on him, this will drive him more insane, and he will come back next season more volatile than ever.
- Some of the ghosts will pass on. They have to. If the writers want ANY MORE NEW CAST MEMBERS, they need to get rid of some dead weight (no pun intended). The house is too crowded and I think it’s more confusing to just show less of each one and not explain where they go when they’re not around. I don’t have hard predictions of who will move on, but I’d like to see the Montgomery family go. Nora’s need for a baby has driven the plot this season, but I don’t think it has staying power. If she and Charles will passed on, the “horror” could focus on something else: like maybe something terrible that happened on the property before the house was even built (maybe the thing that drove Mr. Montgomery to have his Frankenstein complex).
- Maybe we see some aborted babies. Arguments about “when life begins” aside, there were a whole lot of abortions in that basement. I’m trying to think of what the writers could possibly come up with that’s creepier than anything else, and a house full of fetuses is definitely up there.
- Constance will forgive Moira. I have no evidence (nor any conviction, really) that this will happen… I just think it would be nice. And would maybe allow Moira to pass on.
